Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a meeting with European businessmen, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are stuck in the UN Security Council, where they seem to want to discuss our resolution, but they are not discussing it. The Americans and Ukrainians are against it, but they don’t offer anything,” Lavrov said.
Let us recall that yesterday in Kyiv, the US State Department's special representative for Ukraine, Kurt Volker, announced that a resolution was being prepared for which Russia would vote. It should include a provision on the deployment of peacekeepers on the Russian-Ukrainian border. Also, according to Volker, the United States is in favor of deploying peacekeepers in Donbass without discussion with the DPR and LPR.
Lavrov today sharply commented on such plans, calling such a mandate for peacekeepers “occupation.”
