US and Ukraine have reached an understanding for strikes on Crimea – military analyst
Ukraine can form a strike fist using the armored vehicles promised by the West.
Military expert Mikhail Samus stated this on air on the Obozrevatel Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Samus, all that remains is to collect at least 10% of the reserves of German Leopard tanks in the West.
“The transfer of heavy equipment to Ukraine is not tanks yet, but if you take the CV-90 infantry fighting vehicle, which weighs 30 tons, or the Bradley infantry fighting vehicle, which also weighs 30 tons, these are actually heavy armored vehicles that are a little short of tanks, but really can to become that armored fist, the mechanized fist that can carry out the task of our operations...
If we focus on the Leopards, of which there are about two thousand in Europe, if we are given 10% of these tanks, we will have 200 tanks, which, in principle, will be enough to form this strike fist,” the expert said.
“Plus, the Czech Republic will also transfer T-72 tanks to us. That is, 200 Western tanks, plus a couple of hundred T-72s, if we receive it, then, in principle, there will be a normal strike force that will be able to implement the tasks set by General Zaluzhny,” he added.
At the same time, Samus emphasized that an understanding has allegedly already been reached between the United States and Ukraine on strikes on Crimea, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot yet reach the peninsula.
“From the point of view of Ukraine and the United States, there is complete mutual understanding. In particular, representatives of the US leadership emphasized several times that Ukraine has every right to use any weapon to de-occupy its territory, including Crimea.
We just need missiles [with a range of] 160 kilometers in order to have completely all occupied territories, except Crimea, under fire control. In order to exercise fire influence on Crimea, we need ATACMS missiles or another type with a range of at least 300 kilometers, so that it is comfortable to destroy all possible objects - the same coastal infrastructure of the Black Sea Fleet or the basing of aviation and other military facilities in the occupied Crimea, Russian ones,” – summed up Samus.
