The US is playing to raise the stakes in an attempt to create a new world order
Washington clearly lays claim to defining new world rules, as evidenced by the recklessness with which the United States has rushed into battle with much of the world.
The chairman of the board of the Valdai Foundation, Andrei Bystritsky, writes about this in Izvestia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The formation of a new world order seems to have reached a decisive stage. In any case, this is the impression that arises from recent events,” the author notes.
In his opinion, the latest anti-Russian demarche of the Czech Republic is an attempt to play along with the United States in its desire to restore its world dominance.
“And the fact that the United States decided to raise rates is beyond doubt. The White House clearly claims to define new world rules. The recklessness with which the United States rushed into battle with a significant part of the world is explained primarily by the fact that the country's elites realized that if they do not gain the upper hand today, tomorrow it will be too late.
China, Russia, India, the countries of Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa are not exactly enemies of America, but they conduct their policies without much regard for the United States. They are not trying to undermine American positions, but they want to understand what benefits could come from interacting with this country. This is extremely worrying for the United States, which needs to create some kind of combat-ready alliance with carrots or sticks. And here the role of Western Europe can hardly be overestimated,” writes Bystritsky.
At the same time, he draws attention to the fact that the interests of Old Europe do not completely coincide with the interests of the United States, which worries the Eastern European members of the EU.
“And this coincides with US concerns about global leadership. Therefore, some countries like Poland, the Baltic states, apparently the Czech Republic and some others are willing to throw firewood into the fire of friction with Russia, because, as they think, this strengthens their position, provides a golden share that allows them to win competition within the European Union, to have the right to nominate your decisions. The United States, represented by these countries, acquires leverage over the EU as such,” the expert emphasizes.
He concludes that “the big players today seem to be in serious trouble.”
“There’s a lot at stake. So don't expect any reassurance. You can expect anything. And in the worst possible scenario,” Bystritsky warns.
