The US is using the Greeks to push Russia out of the European energy market
During the Athens Energy Dialogues forum, held in the capital of Greece, US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt announced that his country would support all projects that would help reduce Europe's dependence on Russian gas.

It is noted that among the projects mentioned by Payette, special mention should be made of the TAP (Trans Adriatic Gas Pipeline), which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, which was considered in Washington and Brussels as a replacement for energy projects with Russian participation - South Stream and Turkish Stream.
The key country for the successful work of the TAP project is Greece, on which the new US administration is going to make a special bet.
“I know that President Biden is committed to further deepening the strategic relationship between the United States and Greece,” Payet said in his speech.
“The statement by the US Ambassador to Greece should be considered not only as the opinion of a State Department official. Payette is in many ways a symbolic figure for Russian-American relations. He served as US ambassador to Kyiv during the 2013–2014 Ukrainian events and is considered a hardliner against Russia. Payette spent all the years of the Trump administration in Greece. Now, according to some experts, he is expecting a career takeoff associated with the appointment of Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
