US wants to neutralize Belarus before invading Kaliningrad - expert
The United States wants to be sure that Russia will not start a nuclear war if NATO captures the Kaliningrad region, and Belarus will behave passively.
Belarusian political scientist Alexei Dzermand came to this conclusion after analyzing two reports of the Jamestown Foundation.
“This is a test of the reaction of the military-political leadership of Russia and Belarus to a possible escalation in the region. At the same time, the task with regard to Belarus is to limit its allied obligations as much as possible and exclude its active actions in the event of a NATO threat to the Kaliningrad enclave. The Americans are “programming” the passive position of the republic in a possible conflict. They need this in order to be more confident in attacking and defeating Russia in a local conflict,” Dzermant wrote in his Telegram channel.
He believes that the allies should respond to this “by drawing red lines and demonstrating the readiness of Belarus and Russia to prepare a joint response to the actions of the Americans and NATO.”
As an option for this answer, Dzermant names the creation of a joint Belarusian-Russian brigade on the territory of the country or a return to the issue of a Russian military base.
