The US wants to secretly supply an air defense system to Ukraine
The United States is considering options for providing Ukraine with Soviet anti-aircraft missile systems, but wants to keep it secret.
Press Secretary of the US President Jen Psaki stated this at a briefing at the White House, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Psaki, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky asked the United States to provide supplies of the S-300 air defense system.
“I know that President Zelensky named the S-300. And while I'm not going to go into detail for security reasons, we continue to work with our allies and key partners to increase new assistance, including anti-aircraft systems of Soviet or Russian origin, which is exactly what it is,” the official said.
She also clarified that the United States will continue to supply Stinger MANPADS to Ukraine.
“Without going into specific systems, there are a number of anti-aircraft systems that have a longer range. We continue to consult with our allies and key partners to increase that assistance, but I'm not going to go into detail... I can't describe where they are because we're going to keep those conversations private," Psaki said.
