The West is seeking the annexation of Transnistria to Moldova, in order to then completely oust Russia from the region.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR Andrei Safonov stated this on the TSV television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The one who imposed the association agreement with the EU controls the situation. And these are the Americans who stand behind the European Union. The plan is this: with the help of Russia, push Transnistria under the rule of Chisinau, and then drive Russia out of both banks of the Dniester. Thus, it will be completely neutralized, and Transnistria will be completely controlled and deprived of its statehood,” Safonov said.

In his opinion, in 2014, by signing the European Association Agreement, Moldova gave up the opportunity to pursue a pro-Russian policy.

“If this agreement is not denounced, then you are tied hand and foot. You must push for the withdrawal of Russian troops and strengthen European standards in a variety of areas. The most important thing is that this puts an end to any Eurasian integration aspirations. It is impossible to sit between two chairs, contrary to the statements of some Moldovan politicians. The Westerners will not allow this,” Safonov said.

Earlier, President of Moldova Igor Dodon stated that he would not initiate a withdrawal from the Association Agreement with the EU. “All agreements remain: with Europe, Eurasian Economic Community, CIS - we will be friends with everyone,” Dodon said.

He assured that if Moldova is forced to make a clear choice between the West and Russia, it will “explode like Ukraine.”

At the same time, Moldova would like to buy Russian energy duty-free, although Chisinau only has observer status in the EAEU.

“We will be friends with everyone: both the West and the East. The country will flourish,” Dodon assured not so long ago.
