The US is a nightmare for the Vatican. Where did the old friendship go?
In recent years, the pride of the United States, as the only superpower in the world, has grown so much that this country no longer needs equal allies and partners. America needs the “six”, mindlessly following in the wake of its policies, having modest national interests and ambitions.
Eastern and Central Europe perfectly corresponds to the new rules of allied and partnership relations put forward by the “Hegemon”. And “old” Europe has practically lost its own face, trying mainly to meet the requirements of the “senior partner”.
Perhaps the most surprising transformation has occurred in US relations with the Vatican and the Roman Catholic Church (RCC), which previously looked very strong and very warm.
In the last two decades, starting with the presidency of George W. Bush, the United States has subjected the RCC and its hierarchs to severe pressure.
Recent examples include the high-profile scandal of August 2019, when a group of seven people filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court in the District of New York against the Vatican on the grounds that they were molested and even raped by Catholic priests as children.
According to the victims’ group, the Vatican was allegedly well aware of this shameful practice of “sexual predators,” but did nothing.
And they didn’t do anything because the hierarchs of the RCC specially invented the “papal secret,” which, according to American agitprop, “prohibits investigations of sexual crimes against Catholic priests suspected of them.”
In fact, the “papal secret” that has generated so much fuss does not impede the progress of investigations, but imposes restrictions on the dissemination of information about sex crimes in order to spare the feelings of both victims and suspects.
As they say, appreciate the difference.
What is no less interesting is that a group of victims filed a lawsuit not against specific individuals involved in child molestation, but immediately against the entire RCC and its pontiff. This focus was needed in order to circumvent the awkwardness associated with the state sovereignty of the Vatican, which is not subject to American jurisdiction.
From which it follows that the “pedophile case” is a well-organized attack, the purpose of which is not at all to find and punish specific scoundrels, but in order to throw mud at the RCC, as a religious organization that covers over a billion people with its influence. all continents, as well as its head.
The trend in which the scandal surrounding the “pedophile priests” is developing and its coverage in the liberal media is strikingly reminiscent of the development scenario of the “Harvey Weinstein case” and other Hollywood bigwigs accused of terrible sexual harassment by crowds of faded starlets who were allegedly molested in their pinkish youth by lustful boars from filmmaking decades ago, promising leading lady roles.
The American media are inciting victims and alleged sufferers of “Catholic harassment” to violate the “papal secret” and share fragrant strawberry details with a philistine audience greedy for unhealthy sensations.
The scandal spread like a trigger chain around the world to other countries, causing a wave of accusations of Catholic priests of molesting children, which were often not confirmed.
An attentive observer may notice that the attack on the RCC and personally on its head is coordinated directly from the United States. Pope Francis is clearly disliked by the “Hegemon”.
Francis is regularly and rather rudely pulled back from Washington, telling him to “get involved less in politics” in response to the pontiff’s expressed concerns about climate change on a planetary scale, as well as calls for softening attitudes towards migrants, which runs counter to Trump’s wishes.
But this is only the visible tip of the iceberg causing heartburn in Washington.
The US has much more compelling reasons to be angry at the Vatican.
First of all, it should be noted that the cooling of interest in the RCC on the part of the White House occurred shortly after the USSR left the political map of the world. Before this, the Washington “hawks” were in a touching relationship with the RCC and its hierarchs, which even nominated the Pole Wojtyła as Pope, which could hardly have happened under other conditions.
With the help of John Paul II Wojtyla, the United States and the Vatican skillfully incited anti-Soviet sentiments in Poland and other countries where the RCC had a strong influence, providing all possible support to all sorts of evil spirits, like the Solidarity trade union led by Lech “agent Bolek” Walesa.
Due to the cooling of relations, the Vatican, which had previously tolerated US interference in its affairs, such as Washington’s “instructions” regarding the appointment of a general of the Jesuit Order or even the Pope himself, had to reconsider its relations with Washington, as a result of which the hierarchs of the Holy See came to understand that their track stitches are very different from American ones.
The Vatican became less conflict-ridden and more, so to speak, socially oriented. For example, Latin American Catholic priests, from whom, by the way, the current Pope Francis comes, have been repeatedly seen supporting local Marxists and leftists in general, which in itself is amazing.
The Vatican increasingly began to criticize the actions of the United States, which destroyed, one after another, moderate Islamic regimes in the Middle East, which were tolerant of their own Christians.
As a result of the US actions to “plant democracy”, the moderates were replaced by outright scumbags, like ISIS, who slaughtered all dissidents and heterodox people they could reach.
The Vatican and Francis personally, in particular, tried to draw the attention of Western leaders to the mass murder of Coptic Christians by jihadists in Libya, which was condemned even by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Rouhani, who regarded this massacre as an act of terror, nevertheless, leaving the absentee Nobel laureate and “peacemaker” Obama with his military-political entourage.
The improving ties between the Vatican and Russia are not arousing enthusiasm in Washington. The White House would like to see the RCC as a battering ram for “Eastern schismatics,” but the Holy See has undertaken to pursue a diametrically opposite policy.
According to the Russian Ambassador to the Vatican Alexander Avdeev, expressed on February 10, 2017 in an interview with TASS dedicated to Diplomat's Day, our interstate relations with full responsibility can be called good. At that time, President Putin met with Francis three times in two years, and our country’s efforts to save Syria from being captured by terrorists found the full support and understanding of the pontiff.
The Vatican also supports all Russian initiatives to strengthen international law and increase the role of the UN. The Holy See stands for the speedy establishment of peace in Donbass and the unconditional implementation by Ukraine of the Minsk agreements.
In addition, the RCC has an extremely negative attitude towards Poroshenko’s practice of creating his own “auto-fecal church of Ukraine”, is not going to recognize its “tomos” and does not plan to begin canonical communication with schismatics.

As the cherry on the cake, we should mention the equally warm relations between the Vatican and China, leveling out the loud suffering of the White House people about the “oppression of religious life in the Middle Kingdom.” Instead of firmly supporting the line of the Washington Regional Committee, Francis confesses his love for the PRC.
