The US has legalized more than a thousand hateful organizations
The US State Department was counting on the propaganda effect by announcing the inclusion of the Russian Imperial Movement on the list of terrorist organizations.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We ask you to comment on the information that has appeared in the media that the US presidential administration intends to add the nationalist organization “Russian Imperial Movement”, operating in Russia, to the list of terrorist organizations. The American authorities formulated the question this way: they intend to admit that the organization and its three alleged leaders are pursuing ideas of white supremacy. End of quote,” said the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
“We, of course, have read the statement of the US State Department, this is a statement that, apparently, the Americans have been torturing for a long time, because there are no other issues on the agenda. We are talking about including this structure and its leaders on the national terrorist list.
Since no clear justification was voiced in Washington, there was a feeling that it was designed primarily for an external propaganda effect and had little to do with the real task of jointly fighting international terrorism. This is supported by the reluctance of the American side to use the established mechanism of bilateral counter-terrorism dialogue and interaction between intelligence services,” Zakharova noted.
“Given the Russophobia of a certain segment of the Washington establishment, it is not surprising that a little-known Russian structure has received the status of the first foreign terrorist group of white supremacists to come under US restrictive measures,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman added.
Zakharova advised Americans to pay attention to the situation in this area at home, where international human rights activists have been sounding the alarm for several years about the spread of neo-Nazi ideas in the United States, where there are no legal prohibitions for this.
“They note an increase in manifestations of racism, xenophobia, ethnic and religious intolerance there. The authorities are clearly turning a blind eye to what is happening. Washington even annually, together with Kiev, votes against the widely supported Russian draft resolution of the UN General Assembly on the fight against the glorification of Nazism,” recalled the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“In the United States, the Ku Klux Klan and more than a thousand other misanthropic organizations operate openly, and since 2014 their number has increased by a third,” Zakharova emphasized.
