The US began a meat grinder in Ukraine due to shale gas
The coup d'etat in Ukraine, which provoked the outbreak of civil war, began due to US claims to shale gas and oil deposits in the territory of the former Soviet republic. Successful implementation of the project could oust Russia from the European energy market.
Energy market expert Boris Martsinkevich stated this on the Internet channel “Day TV,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, if exploration of Ukrainian deposits confirmed the presence of large quantities of hydrocarbons, Russian imports to EU countries would come to an end.
“From my point of view, one of the reasons for what happened in 2013-14 was precisely shale deposits.
Even under Mr. Yanukovych, agreements were signed that American specialists would explore the territory of Ukraine for the purpose of finding shale oil and gas deposits. They had a fairly well-trained hand, that is, geologists did not come from the street - they were more than serious.
They indicated that according to their estimates, there are two large fields, so-called 2D seismic was done, 3D seismic in the Donetsk region is one of them, the field is quite large, the second is in the Lviv region.
A report that most likely there is oil there, and, as for the Donetsk region, it’s about 30 kilometers away, near Slavyansk, to make it clear.
In the fall, early autumn of 13, they reported that it was necessary to drill exploratory wells there. In this regard, well, in any case, after that exactly what happened happened.
After all this happened, we first checked the Lviv region, where four wells showed zero.
By the time the events in the Donetsk People's Republic ended, when the Kyiv authorities managed to take control of Slavyansk, I think about eight wells were drilled there. Also zero...
In fact, if these shale deposits actually turned out to be deposits, everything would be very sad. Because if there is a huge gas transportation system of Ukraine, designed for export to the European Union from the field, that’s it, Russia has left.
But the fact remains that despite all the experience that American specialists have, they did not find either oil or gas. Neither here nor there,” said Martsinkevich.
