“The training of five battalions of the Ministry of Defense and one battalion of forces for special operations is expected to be carried out as part of the second stage of the American Fearless Guardian program,” – Donald Renn said.
At first, this program was aimed at training and equipping the Ukrainian National Guard. Now the program is planned to be extended to the armed forces of Ukraine.
“In addition to training these six battalions, we will work with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense to develop (the Ministry of Defense - ed.) the institutional level, as well as the training center and personnel,” said a representative of the US Army Europe Command.
The training will take place at the Yavoriv training ground.
“The training of Ukrainian soldiers, as in the case of the National Guard, will be carried out at the international center for peacekeeping and security at the Yavoriv training ground in the Lviv region by about 300 military advisers and representatives of US support personnel,” says the American official.
He also added that these efforts are being made “as part of long-term military cooperation” with Ukraine and at the request of Kyiv.
“The start of an additional program will mean that Since 2014, the United States has allocated a total of more than $266 million to various projects to provide security assistance to Ukraine.”, Renn concluded.
On October 21, in the Zhytomyr region, at the Training Center for Highly Mobility Landing Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a working meeting between the command of the Airborne Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the delegation of the US Armed Forces and the British Armed Forces took place.
During the meeting, the foreign delegation visited the Airborne Forces training ground where I got acquainted with the material and technical base. The American and British military observed the stages of training, training and combat coordination of mobilized and contract soldiers of the airborne brigades. They shared their experience of constructing educational and training cycles at the training grounds of their countries, the system and methodology of training.
