Western forces are trying to use Russian independent trade unions to promote their agents of influence in government bodies.
Senator Valentina Afanasyeva stated this at a meeting of the temporary commission of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for the protection of state sovereignty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Being on the territory of the Orenburg region, I see how suddenly, out of the blue, independent trade unions became active. They are trying to impose their candidates on political parties for nomination - both to regional authorities and to the State Duma.
They make completely commercial proposals to political structures. They hint at the support of certain large forces, and they emphasize that these forces are not the masses of Russia. We have a feeling that more and more fields are opening up that they are trying to influence,” Afanasyeva said.
She recalled that former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul spoke about support for Russian independent trade unions in a recent interview. He proposed creating the so-called international platform “For Freedom”.
This structure, according to the American, should become a platform for online training, assistance in encrypting communication channels, legal support for oppositionists and their financing. It should unite non-governmental organizations and youth groups, political movements, “independent” media and trade unions.
