The US will not impose sanctions against Russia in the Arctic
American sanctions against Russia will not affect the sphere of cooperation between the two countries in the Arctic. Senator Igor Chernyshenko said this today at a meeting of the Federation Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, speaking about the results of a meeting of the standing committee of parliamentarians of the Arctic countries, held in February in Alaska.

“All US officials, including representatives of the State Department, emphasized that despite the difficult period in relations between our countries, cooperation in the Arctic is a priority, and sanctions are not observed in this space,” Chernyshenko said.
According to him, most of the participants in the meeting in Alaska confirmed their readiness to take part in the forum “The Arctic: Territory of Dialogue”, which will be held in Arkhangelsk at the end of March.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the USA eased sanctions and allowed to supply to Russia electronics with an encryption system.
