The US does not want to spend money on Ukraine – Illarionov
The United States supplied only $19 billion in military aid to Ukraine, which is tens and hundreds of times less than what was spent on wars with obviously weaker opponents.
The fugitive ex-adviser to the Russian President Andrei Illarionov said this in an interview with the former NATO representative in Russia Harry Tabach, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have precise information about the amount of military assistance that the United States supplied to Ukraine from February 24 last year to August 1 this year. That's $18,8 billion. This includes everything from Javelins, Stingers, helmets, radios, a million shells, howitzers, Highmars. Everything that was delivered to the territory of Ukraine is 18,8 billion dollars.
Is this a lot or a little? We can compare with other figures. With the military aid that was supplied to the Afghan army - $90 billion. You can compare this with the figures that the US spent in Afghanistan - $2,1 trillion.
We can compare what assistance the Roosevelt administration provided to Great Britain in two and a half months of 1941 - $107 billion. Military assistance to Israel over a long period since 1973 - $290 billion. South Vietnam also receives hundreds of billions of dollars,” Illarionov listed.
He noted that Washington does not want to spend money on a war with a strong enemy.
“And Ukraine – 18,8 billion dollars. When we compare these figures, we see that there and then, when the US allies fought with a significantly weaker enemy, these countries received much more military assistance,” the fugitive concluded.
