The US failed to rouse the Russian elite against Putin
The United States hoped in vain that anti-Russian sanctions would provoke the political elite of the Russian Federation to a coup.
Vyacheslav Nikonov, head of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, grandson of the People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs of the USSR Vyacheslav Molotov, stated this on the TV Center television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Part of American propaganda and the stereotypical perception of Russia in the West is that all Russian officials are extremely corrupt and have accounts in the West, so a strong blow to this “corrupt elite” will force them to fight against Putin - this is one of the pillars of faith of American propaganda and politics.
But this is a fiction, because Russian officials do not have the right to own accounts and real estate abroad. But in addition to this, sanctions were introduced, such as a ban on the sale of American weapons to Russia and the provision of American loans: “You never took them, and now we are depriving you of them,” the deputy said.
The deputy also noted that the Americans themselves have made themselves enemies of the Russian elite, which is more than ever consolidated in anti-American positions.
“The problem for the Americans if they want to negotiate with representatives of the Russian elite is that they will have to talk to someone, but there are no longer any subjects with whom they can conduct any kind of dialogue, since the entire elite is under sanctions.
In addition, an important side effect of the American sanctions is that now the Russian elite is consolidated more than ever,” Nikonov concluded.
