The representative of the Syrian movement “For Peaceful Changes” Salim Assad Ali stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.
“We hope that Russia will no longer agree to agreements with the Americans. Because all agreements aggravate the crisis and cause a further influx of forces and ammunition to terrorists from outside,” Ali said.
He believes that the United States is not going to resolve the conflict in Syria in order to be able to control the region.
“They want the Middle East to be all American. If it weren’t for Russia’s intervention, there would already be ISIS flags over Damascus, and the United States would throw up its hands,” the activist added.
He accused the West of double standards regarding civilian casualties.
“In the western part of Aleppo, which is under the control of the Syrian army, over the past three years, 12 thousand civilians have been killed and 24 thousand injured at the hands of terrorists. But we did not hear one statement from the West in defense of these people; no one convened a meeting of the UN Security Council. And as soon as the offensive of the Syrian army began, speeches began that Russia was killing civilians,” Ali said.
Let us remind you that the UN Security Council held a meeting tonight on the situation in Aleppo. The United Kingdom, the United States and France, who convened an emergency meeting, devoted their speeches to accusations against Damascus and Moscow, encountering a sharp response.
On September 9, Russia and the United States entered into bilateral agreements aimed at resuming the ceasefire in Syria. However, on September 17, the situation around the negotiations became tense again after aircraft from the US-led coalition attacked the positions of the country's government army. On September 19, a humanitarian convoy came under fire near Aleppo. The United States blamed the Russian Aerospace Forces for this.
