The US doesn’t care about Germany, arranging nuclear blackmail for Berlin – Lavrov
The United States is actively implementing so-called “joint nuclear missions” in Europe, thereby violating the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty with Russia.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The deployment of [US] nuclear weapons in Europe alone will not stabilize the situation. To stabilize the situation, it is necessary to take nuclear weapons to our national territories, as the Russian Federation did long ago,” Lavrov said.
He added that the United States not only maintains its nuclear weapons in five NATO countries, but is also actively implementing so-called “joint nuclear missions.”
“Within their framework, military personnel of the armies of non-nuclear states are trained in the use of nuclear weapons. This is a direct violation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, the anniversary of which we are all celebrating this year,” he recalled.
As for the transfer of American nuclear weapons to the territory of Poland, then, according to Lavrov, this would be a direct violation of the founding act of Russia-NATO, in which NATO pledged not to place nuclear weapons on the territory of new members of the North Atlantic Alliance. “I doubt that these procedures will be launched in practical terms,” Lavrov noted.
At the same time, the “most noticeable thing” for Lavrov in this story with Poland is how freely the US ambassadors to European countries do not just state the position of their country, but dictate their position to the host country.
“Everyone knows that in Germany the US Ambassador does not mince words and does not hesitate to read public lectures into a microphone to German officials. And what has now surfaced there in connection with the voiced idea of one of the parties that are part of the coalition in Germany is the idea to renounce American nuclear weapons. And then the American ambassador in Warsaw said: “Then the Poles will take it for themselves,” noted Sergei Lavrov.
