The US declares war on the yachts of the Russian oligarchy
The United States will continue to put pressure on the Russian elite, taking away its property and other assets.
State Department spokesman Ned Price stated this at a briefing in Washington, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Price, the United States will confiscate planes, yachts and other property from anyone deemed close to the Russian leadership.
“These are sanctions and economic measures that are aimed at the Russian system as a whole. Look at the measures that are aimed at Russian individuals, oligarchs, associates, President Putin, Foreign Minister Lavrov, Sergei Shoigu, Dmitry Peskov and others. We have already had cases of seizure of assets, confiscation of assets,” the official said.
He threatened that such cases will become more frequent.
“The Treasury Department, the Justice Department are working closely with their counterparts around the world to pursue yachts, pursue airplanes, pursue ill-fated conquests that have been plundered and stolen from the Russian people. This will continue... I, of course, have no doubt that we will continue - the EU will continue, our partners and allies around the world will continue - to persecute the oligarchs, to persecute cronies, to persecute all those who in one way or another help Putin in his military efforts plays a role in his war machine,” Price said.
