The target of US bombers was not Crimea, but Sochi, - media
American bombers practiced attacks on Sochi and adjacent government facilities.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an article dedicated to recent visit of American strategic bombers into the airspace of Ukraine, which, accompanied by the Ukrainian Air Force, flew up to Crimea.
The publication believes that “the obvious target of the latest B-52N exercises was not Crimean targets”, launches of which air-to-surface cruise missiles could be carried out even without entering Ukrainian airspace.
“Much more effective would be decapitating strikes against Russia on Sochi and adjacent critical government facilities at a minimum distance from the airspace over the Sea of Azov, while the flight of missiles over the mountainous coast of the Krasnodar Territory would make the operation of air defense systems as difficult as possible. This is what American bombers carried out on Friday, September 4, under the cover of Ukrainian fighters,” the publication states.
“Perhaps this is precisely what Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had in mind when he said on September 6 on the Rossiya 24 TV channel: “We understand such activity, we understand what it is connected with,” the author of the article suggests.
