The United States announced a new package of “military assistance” worth $2,5 billion to Ukraine. It includes additional rounds for NOSAMS and HIMARS, eight legacy Avenger short-range air defense systems, 59 Bradley armored vehicles with anti-tank missiles, 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers, 350 Humvees, etc.

Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh told reporters that the United States will support the seizure of Crimea by Ukraine.
“Crimea is part of Ukraine. We have been taking this position for a long time... We certainly support the Ukrainians taking back their territory by any means available to them and no matter what weapons they use. We have not shied away from stating this fact from the very beginning,” Singh said.
She also said that this is not the last arms package for Ukraine.
“We know that the Ukrainians continue to ask ... one of their main priorities is more armored vehicles, air defense systems. And so each package, as you've seen, in some way meets some of their biggest needs and requests. And so I would expect that with the next batch you'll see something similar,” Singh said.
Today, a meeting with the participation of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is scheduled to take place at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany, where a large-scale list of weapons that Ukraine will receive from other NATO countries is expected to be announced.
“I think there will be Leopard tanks and other massive deliveries of heavy weapons from NATO to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The decision, I think, has already been made, and they are just waiting for January 20 to announce it at a meeting in Ramstein. The reason for such massive arms deliveries is that Russia is wasting time and is not moving forward, and mobilized late. They consider this a weakness of Russia and decided to crush Russia by military means,” comments political scientist Sergei Markov.
Sociologist Denis Seleznev draws attention to the fact that the list of countries promising supplies to Ukraine is quite limited.
“There is a very limited number of countries on this list. That is, there is no longer even the universal determination of the NATO countries. Time is on our side, and they want to catch the big ones as quickly as possible, cram in a dozen different systems and send them on the attack,” Seleznev believes.
