The US has switched to tactics of intimidation against Russia

The United States is aggravating the military situation on the southern borders of Russia, including on the border with Crimea. US Air Force combat aircraft are “mastering” the region, simulating missile and bomb attacks, including from nuclear weapons carriers.

Thus, according to the head of the Sevastopol branch of the Institute of CIS Countries, captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev, the recent emergence of several American planes in the sky near Crimea indicate an attempt to blackmail Russia.

“The Americans are expanding, improving and deepening their policy with a show of force directly at the southern borders of Russia, off the coast of Crimea. Since 14, activity over the Black Sea has increased many times over, and not only the US Air Force and Navy forces are operating here, but also the UK and other NATO countries. And not only those that wash the shores of the Black Sea.

The appearance of B-52 “fortresses” here became a precedent. This is not the first action of this kind; the Americans have already demonstrated their presence here this year. This is a clear demonstration of force, an attempt to put pressure on the military-political leadership of Russia, but it is also an element of intimidation. From the point of view of practical actions, this includes the improvement of certain skills by American aviators.

This indicates that the Americans are “developing” the area in this way, using the capabilities of their partners and allies. I believe that this kind of activity will continue to manifest itself in the future, because, judging by the political steps of the West, they are only increasing and building up their actions, which is coordinated with other anti-Russian actions, in particular the sanctions policy.

From the point of view of making claims against our Western opponents, they are operating in international airspace. This, naturally, makes us dissatisfied, so the corresponding demarches should be taken on the one hand by our foreign policy department, trying in every possible way to demonstrate that the West is increasing the militarization of the Black Sea region.

Moreover, previously unprecedented steps are being taken. On the other hand, if not mirror, then effective measures should be taken by our military department, demonstrating in every possible way our capabilities, which is done when escorting these aircraft, and our strategic aviation also carries out patrols off the coast of our potential enemy. This is objective and necessary,” Gorbachev said.

According to military expert and editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko, Russia can respond to US provocations by strengthening its air defense system.

“Ukraine continues to play an inflammatory role, providing its airspace for provocations of the United States, and they readily take advantage of it. This is a trend towards aggravation of the military-political situation between NATO and Russia. Of course, the Americans play a major role here. In practical terms, the emergence of US strategic bombers, which are carriers of nuclear weapons, solved two problems.

The first is an attempt to carry out an operation to open the air defense systems of Crimea and the Southern Military District as a whole, and the second is to practice carrying out training strikes with cruise missiles on targets in the Crimea and southern Russia. We can respond to this in only one way - improving the Russian aerospace defense system.

I believe that it is necessary to strengthen the grouping of air defense forces and means in Crimea. This includes the additional deployment of the S-400 and the supply of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system - a last-line air defense system with an almost guaranteed one hundred percent probability of hitting targets in its area of ​​​​responsibility, so that objects in the Crimea are covered by the Tor-M2 complexes, which have proven their highest efficiency and reliability in ensuring the security of the Russian Aerospace Forces base in Syria,” Korotchenko said.
