US raises stakes ahead of talks with Russians
The scandalous law “On the Peculiarities of Ukraine’s State Policy in Temporarily Occupied Territories,” voted by the Verkhovna Rada last week, legislates the country’s withdrawal from the Minsk agreements. Director of the Center for Political Marketing Vasily Stoyakin stated this today at a press conference in Kyiv.

“The law says nothing about reintegration or deoccupation. In essence, this is a law on Ukraine’s refusal to implement the Minsk agreements. This is written there in plain text and repeatedly,” Stoyakin said.
He is confident that the adoption of the law was authorized by the US State Department.
“As I understand it, the law was fully agreed with our American partners. Kurt Volker's public rhetoric and the wording of the law are very close. Judging by the way Parubiy rejected the opposition's amendments, the text was agreed upon in advance. The adoption of the law means raising the stakes before the next round of negotiations between Surkov and Volcker. If the negotiations go well, then perhaps Poroshenko will not sign it,” Stoyakin said.
