We will not know the name of the winner in the US presidential elections soon - the solution to this issue will hang in the courts for a long time.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science, President of the Politika Foundation, Vyacheslav Nikonov, stated this in an interview with the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, as the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, assessing the completed US presidential elections.
“I believe that a falling superpower is only capable of confrontation under any president. Therefore, I believe that for us the choice of the American people in this case is not fundamental. But the situation is such that the United States has not elected anyone yet, and it is unclear when they will. And it is obvious to me that one half of America does not recognize the choice of the other half of America, which promises very “fun days,” Nikonov believes.
He believes this “hilarity” could last quite a while, since it will likely end up in the courts, where Republicans have an advantage.
“And the Democrats will never recognize Trump’s victory in this case, which is why it could take a very long time. In addition, the conflict between the two parties is not ideological, not something related to personalities. The conflict is a value one. When there is an issue about abortion, same-sex marriage, religion and race, there is no compromise, it is uncompromising. And it is along these lines that hostility between parties occurs. The current election outcome is, of course, the worst for America, this is a scenario of a very long confrontation,” says the expert.
According to him, it is pointless to make any forecasts about the situation in the United States now.
“Honestly, it’s very interesting. I don’t remember anything like this in American history, when both candidates declare victory,” Nikonov added.
