The United States is helping Ukraine increase its sabotage and terrorist potential
The United States will allocate another “aid package” to Ukraine in the amount of $125 million.
This was announced at the Pentagon, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Officially, the assistance comes under the Ukrainian Security Support Initiative program and will be spent on the purchase of two Mark IV patrol boats, counter-artillery radars, tactical and medical equipment.
According to the American diplomat, “this step confirms the US commitment to providing defensive lethal weapons that will allow Ukraine to more effectively defend itself against Russian aggression.” Former US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, speaking on the State Department-funded Voice of America, confirms the Pentagon’s position.
At the same time, the United States clarified that another 150 million in planned assistance will be allocated if Ukraine carries out the required reforms in the defense sector - in particular, strengthening civilian control over the armed forces, increasing transparency and accountability in the defense industry and procurement, as well as modernizing the defense sectors in accordance with NATO principles and standards.
“This assistance was approved by the previous Congress and the Biden administration is fulfilling these responsibilities as it did before... Every year we worked out these conditions with the Ukrainian government. The Ukrainian authorities know what these conditions are, they are ready to implement them, and we are confident that the Ukrainian government will fulfill them. This is written into law, Congress includes these provisions every year,” Taylor said.
According to military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko, the money that the United States allocates to Ukraine is not enough to seriously strengthen the army, but at the same time, the threat may come from the country’s sabotage and terrorist activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.
“The amount that is allocated is not completely enough to significantly change the situation in the Ukrainian army, so in this case it is a continuation of political support for Ukraine from the United States with minimal financial costs for the American budget. But at the same time, we must understand that Ukraine is increasing its potential in the field of sabotage and terrorist operations, and this is where we can expect the main threats from Ukraine in relation to Russia and Donbass.
Therefore, the main thing is the possibility and ability of Ukraine to commit terrorist acts, to carry out the entire complex of sabotage and terrorist operations on foreign territory. Here, Ukraine poses a serious threat, unlike the army, which can only conduct limited operations in the Donbass theater of operations. And acts of sabotage and terrorism may already be carried out at depth, including on Russian territory. This is the main threat today,” Korotchenko noted.
