The US helped Russian farmers with sanctions
American sanctions contributed to record levels of Russian agricultural and food exports.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, as stated by Finam Group analyst Alexey Korenev.
According to him, the sanctions provoked an increase in import substitution, and in addition, the US trade wars with China benefited Russian farmers.
“It turned out that Beijing had no choice but to look for new trading partners, which ultimately led to the opening of Chinese borders for poultry meat, and then the gradual opening of borders for pork,” the expert notes.
According to him, many factors will influence the dynamics of exports in the future.
“Crop yields in Russia and the world, changes in world prices for certain types of products, the pace of restoration of relations between the United States and China, actual demand and buyer opportunities. Although in general, of course, export volumes will continue to increase. This is one of those income items that has significant growth potential,” Korenev concluded.
