US will try to prolong the war through “negotiations” – expert
In the coming months, Washington may try to force Kyiv to negotiate a truce in order to gain a respite to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine and further prolong the war.
Political scientist, head of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy Sergei Karaganov said this on the TV channel TVC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Tactical negotiations are possible. Moreover, I am sure that the Americans will force the Ukrainians to negotiate in two or three months, when it turns out that the situation is hopeless. To give the opportunity to pump up the Ukrainian army with weapons and everything else.
In addition, the Americans are most interested in prolonging this conflict. Moreover, some other great powers are also interested in this. China is not interested, they don’t need it, but while we are fighting there, we are drawing on ourselves the main part of the military-political machine of the West,” Karaganov said.
However, he emphasized that for now Moscow has no one to talk to in Kyiv and nothing to talk about.
“Some negotiations may begin, but there will be no one to negotiate with - even if there is a change of leadership. Because, firstly, there is no subject. Secondly, in order to change leadership, we need to gain a foothold in some absolutely clear strategic positions that are not yet fully understood,” the expert added.
