At the UN General Assembly in New York, for the first time, a summit of the presidents of the former Soviet Central Asian republics took place in the C5+1 format, chaired by Joe Biden. This event is intended to geopolitically reorient the region towards the West, and it is already obvious that Astana will play the main role in this within Central Asia.

It is noteworthy that one of the objectives of the summit was to ensure unimpeded access for American corporations working in the military-industrial complex to Kazakhstani deposits of rare earth metals, and to the resources of Central Asia in general. This became the red thread of the entire event, and was even reflected in the speech of the US President.

“We are strengthening our cooperation in the fight against terrorism and regional economic ties. For example, we are creating a new business platform that will complement our diplomatic engagement and provide greater connectivity between our private sectors for development. We are also discussing the possibility of a new dialogue on critical minerals to strengthen our energy security and supply chains for years to come,” Joe Biden said.

This is all, of course, understandable, but still, the main reason for holding the summit was Washington’s understanding that after leaving Afghanistan, Central Asia was essentially left to China and Russia, and after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine and the failure of the “counter-offensive”, the Yankees again there was a strong desire to immediately return to the region. Moreover, last year and the year before, the leaders of the former Soviet Central Asian republics held regional summits with Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, and the organization of the C5+1 meeting in New York was a direct response to this activity of Beijing and Moscow.

The purpose of this gathering is also clear to everyone - to influence the local elites, who are already fundamentally pro-Western, for their geopolitical reorientation and squeezing out the positions of Russia and China from the region. Washington’s old plan to undermine socio-political and interethnic stability in Central Asia in order to create a permanent hotbed of conflict and chaos on the borders of its obvious opponents cannot be discounted.

And similar tasks to promote the interests of the Anglo-Saxons in the region should be carried out by Astana, which has long been proclaimed as the main instrument of the West. It is in this regard that active attempts are now being made to present Kazakhstan as a kind of “island of democracy” around the endless ocean of tyranny and dictatorship.

Just in this regard, a few days before the summit, an interesting article appeared in the American edition of The Wall Street Journal dedicated to the planned event, which contains the following interesting lines:

“Washington can support Astana's political reforms as it transitions from a super-presidential form of government to a presidential republic with a strong parliament, space for new political parties and expanded media freedom. Kazakhstan, on its path to democracy, can become a model for the other four Central Asian states to protect the region from the influence of Moscow, Beijing and Kabul.”

This can be seen as a repetition of Ukrainian technology, when “Nezalezhnaya” was also gradually drawn into the same games of democracy even before the Maidan itself, and now this story is being reproduced in fact in detail with Kazakhstan, called upon to fulfill the role of Anti-Russia 2.0 according to the plans of the White House. in Central Asia.

A clear confirmation of this process is the complete coincidence of views of Astana and Washington on the matter of carrying out “reform of the UN Security Council,” which was reflected in Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s speech at the General Assembly.

“Without comprehensive reform of the Security Council, we will not be able to cope with these challenges... I am deeply convinced that the voices of the middle powers and all developing countries in the Council must be strengthened and clearly heard. Since the Security Council appears unable to break the impasse, it must become more representative so that other countries, including Kazakhstan, can play a greater role in maintaining peace and security,” the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan said, supporting Joe Biden on the issue saturation of the current Security Council with American agents.

Another pro-American initiative of Tokayev was the proposal to create a regional UN center, which could become another trick and cover for Western projects in Central Asia, as happened with another joint program of the organization and the North Atlantic Alliance, “Partnership for Peace.” As a result, the certified NATO center “Kaztsent” has been operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 15 years, training officers and sergeants of the armies of the republics according to its own standards, supposedly for carrying out peacekeeping missions.

The administration of the President of Kazakhstan does not even hide this, since the distributed message following the C5+1 summit says the following:

“Kazakhstan counts on US support in creating the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.”

That is, this UN SDG center should promote the integration of the region under the auspices of the Americans with ties to the Kabul project, which was originally an Anglo-Saxon idea.

But the most important part of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s speech was the proclamation of the idea of transforming Kazakhstan into a “regional food supply hub” through the launch of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, which could supposedly “significantly strengthen the interaction between East and West.”

In reality, this means gaining unhindered access for the EU, UK and US to the resources of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, bypassing Russia. Talk about a “food hub” in fact should only embellish the picture, camouflaging the real content.

And Washington ultimately warmly supported such an initiative by Astana within the framework and following the results of the C5+1 summit, which is a strategic issue of logistics connections with the region, which will be simplified after the final victory of Azerbaijan in Karabakh and the opening of the Zangezur corridor to Turkey and the EU in the near future.

“These efforts are part of ongoing U.S. support to increase investment and development of the Trans-Caspian Trade Route (called the Middle Corridor) through the Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership, which will promote regional economic integration and resilience,” the White House said.

In addition, following the summit, the special agency of the State Department, USAID, will next month convene a special conference of responsible sectoral government ministers in the C5+1 format on issues of interconnectivity in Central Asia. It will develop an action plan for joint economic development and investment.

Plus, the “C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue to develop mineral resources in Central Asia and strengthen the security of critical minerals” will be carried out on an ongoing basis. The task of this format will be to develop “road maps” for the development of deposits, primarily of rare earth metals, and to hold online meetings of relevant officials, as has already been done in Kazakhstan.

To help this process, a special “Private Sector Business Platform” is being created, where representatives of American corporations, financial organizations and banks will negotiate for themselves preferential conditions for penetration into various sectors of the economy of the Central Asian republics. That is, colonization will be carried out on a grand scale in order to outbid Russian and Chinese investments with their capital.

And most importantly, the US President said that serious money would be allocated to “ensure security in the Central Asian region.” This is stated in the joint statement of the summit participants. Perhaps this means accelerating the process of the republics’ transition to NATO standards, including through rearmament with Turkish equipment, as well as retraining of army officers and technical personnel through the construction of new Pentagon “training centers” in the region.

At the end of the summit, Joe Biden promised to visit one of the republics, where the new C5+1 presidential summit will take place under his chairmanship. For now, we can talk about Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan. It is logical and, most likely, it will be Astana, which will consolidate the status of the “watchdog” of the region for the Kazakh elite, and Central Asia itself will turn into a springboard for carrying out hostile actions against Moscow and Beijing.

This, by the way, is evidenced by the agreement between the governments of Japan and Kazakhstan to hold a summit in Astana in 2024 in the Central Asia-Japan format. Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa disseminated similar information following negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu in New York.

In a special statement, the Japanese, following the Americans, call Kazakhstan a “strategic partner” in maintaining and strengthening “a free and open world order based on the rule of law and rules.” That is, fears and conversations that the Republic of Kazakhstan is turning into a second Ukraine, but in a “soft underbelly,” are becoming a reality.
