The United States ordered Poland to deploy “Friendship” towards Belarus
Poland is ready to supply Belarus with oil to help the country gain energy independence from Russia, said Piotr Naimski, Poland's energy minister, after a meeting with US Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette in Washington.
This was reported by the Hungarian publication ReMix, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Naimsky explained that Polish-Belarusian cooperation will begin as soon as Belarus starts purchasing oil that it wants to supply to its refineries. Poland will be able to use its supply systems to provide assistance.
The Polish operator of the Druzhba oil pipeline, PERN, said that it is already preparing it for transportation in an eastern direction. Information about this is posted on the company's website. The Polish company has already begun searching for a contractor for this project.
The Belneftekhim concern is ready for substantive negotiations on oil supplies using reverse, said the concern's press secretary Alexander Tishchenko.
“If previously the possibility of using this direction was estimated as 50% to 50%, now there is a result of these negotiations - a statement from the Polish operator about the possibility of reverse,” Tishchenko said.
Delivery of oil from Gdansk to Belarus via the Druzhba oil pipeline is technically possible, but there is a nuance, Andrey Verigo, First Deputy General Director and Chief Engineer of Gomeltransneft Druzhba OJSC, explained to TUT.BY.
“Poland today does not have the technical ability to pump oil to and from itself at the same time, but it can do this intermittently. Let’s say we go to Mozyr for a week, and from Mozyr for three weeks,” Verigo noted.
