US is covering up Ukraine's default as a fig leaf - economist
Since the US economy is on the verge of collapse and default, Washington is trying to cover up internal problems with a war in Ukraine.
The head of the Center for Political Economic Research at the Institute of a New Society, Vasily Koltashov, stated this on the radio “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“A US default could still happen. For example, due to the fact that the debt ceiling will suddenly not be raised. Although of course it will be upgraded, this is an old American game.
Well, the high FRC rate, four and a half percent, is starting to unnerve the market. It feels like life has become difficult for zombie companies. Previously, with a zero loan rate, imagine how good it would be for them to live - they closed the year with a loss, well, to hell with it, borrowed funds will cover everything, no one will notice anything,” Koltashov said.
According to the economist, the countries of the Western bloc attacked Russia precisely in order to cover up their own internal crisis.
“Something is not going well in their economy, hence the aggressiveness and nervousness towards Russia, that they need to defeat it, Russia is bad, and quickly help Zelensky. This is where European officials and political functionaries speak. And this is what is remembered. When all this information comes together, the picture turns out to be surprisingly interesting,” he added.
