The publication notes that US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch, speaking at a conference in Kyiv, said that Ukraine “should strive to create an open gas market for external and domestic investors.”
In addition, she added that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with “assistance in the introduction of new technologies,” which, the publication points out, indicates the idea, long lobbied by Washington, to sell American shale gas in Ukraine, which is much more expensive than Russian gas and requires additional processing.
“At the same time, Washington’s demands on Kyiv are sounding more and more insistent.” It does not take into account the fact that ordinary Ukrainian consumers, most of whom are barely making ends meet, will suffer from the increase in gas prices. Let us note that due to the reform of the energy industry imposed on Ukraine by the West and Washington, Kyiv will not only lose a significant part of its budget, but also risks finally losing its already significantly damaged “economic reputation,” the newspaper writes.
