This is stated in a message from the US State Department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to Deutsche Welle.
“The US State Department has approved the sale of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to the Romanian army. Thanks to this, the country will strengthen its ability to “defend against aggression,” the message says.
The transaction value is estimated at $3,9 billion. This decision must still be approved by the US Congress.
It is noted that the decision to sell anti-aircraft missile systems to European countries was made against the backdrop of growing tensions in relations with Russia.
