USA vs Russia: Europeans are losing control of their continent

Europe found itself between fronts. The US and Russia are expanding their spheres of influence on the continent. After Ukraine, Macedonia slides into chaos. The EU is powerless to do anything because NATO dictates its foreign policy. US Special Representative Victoria Nuland arrived in Moscow the day before. The diplomat was previously in Kyiv and announced that the Americans now want to directly participate in negotiations on the future of Donbass and monitor the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Nuland, who became famous thanks to the words “Fuck ЕU“at the beginning of the revolution in Kyiv, he does not trust his European partners. Although Angela Merkel is weakened due to the espionage scandal, and Hollande has long been considered under US control.
There is no talk of a softening of relations between Russia and the United States, but it is clear that the two sides are pursuing basically the same strategy: both great powers are trying to expand their spheres of influence. The Americans want to export their shale technologies and their products. The Russians want to ensure gas exports. This is a fight on equal terms, and in the end, perhaps, neither of the two opponents will have a monopoly. But even with partial redistribution, you can earn good money on the European energy market. Russia and the United States do not see Europe as an equal partner.
The United States, in its struggle for the European market, destabilized Ukraine. The next event of such destabilization may occur in Macedonia: after the conflict between Kosovars (Albanian saboteurs) and Macedonian police, mass protests were organized in the country calling for the overthrow of the government. Skopje has a democratically elected government in power. This government supports the Russian oil pipeline through Turkey. The opposition leader who initiated the protests said in an interview with Russian state television channel RT that he also wants to promote the Russian project, but with the mandatory participation of Americans in it.
The publication writes: “The EU appears helpless in both cases: in Ukraine, it drifted in line with the Americans in destructive sanctions against Russia. Russia is one of the most important trading partners for most EU countries. Europeans have to pay twice: every day there are reports from companies about a decline in sales due to Russian counter-sanctions, while at the same time taxpayers must finance new loans to keep Ukraine afloat. For example, the state railway company of Ukraine declared technical bankruptcy, which will lead to losses for European shareholders of Ukrzaliznytsia.
In Macedonia, the publication reports, the same story is being repeated as in Ukraine. The EU flirted with the country, promising membership. Now there is an interethnic conflict. Macedonian Albanian separatists begin to declare sovereignty and independence.
A similar situation is unfolding in Greece, where the removal of the Syriza government, which the ECB, EU and IMF are seeking, could lead to the loss of part of state sovereignty and civil confrontations.
Europeans in all three cases - Greece, Ukraine and Macedonia - are only spectators in the process. It is unfortunate, the publication states, but Europeans are losing control over their own continent.
