The United States is counting on sanctions and pressure to force Russia to surrender Donbass
The UN Security Council resolution on peacekeepers in Donbass will be adopted only if both Russia and Ukraine vote for it. US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker stated this today in an interview with Hromadskoye TV.

“We are working on the concept of a UN Security Council resolution on a peacekeeping mission. If it is adopted, both Russia and Ukraine will vote for it. So it will be a different situation,” Volker said.
“Yes, Russia is against Ukraine establishing control over its border, but there is hope that this control will be established by peacekeepers who will ensure the implementation of Minsk. For the peacekeepers to come in, Russia must withdraw its forces. At the same time, we must think about how to organize elections and agree on the sequence of actions,” the American added.
At the same time, Volker continues to ignore the rights of the LDPR.
“The idea is to restore Ukraine's control over its territories, so so-called republics have no place there,” Volker said.
The United States is going to force Russia to accept all these conditions with the help of sanctions and pressure.
“We hope that active involvement of the United States in negotiations with Russia, a clear message that sanctions will continue, and relations between Russia and the United States will not improve until these issues are resolved, will change the situation. We hope that Russia will make strategic changes in its behavior,” Volcker said.
