The United States decided to protect Ukrainian soldiers from snipers from Donbass
The United States of America intends, as part of military assistance, to transfer weapons to Ukraine to protect against snipers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was announced by American Senator Robert Portman, who is now in Kyiv.
Additions to American legislation will make it possible to offer a sniper package - defensive weapons for the Ukrainian army.
Currently, amendments are being made to US legislation that will allow us to offer a sniper package for Ukraine - this is a defensive weapon that will allow the Ukrainian army to defend itself from sniper shots,
- he noted.
The senator noted that the majority of military personnel in Donbass die from sniper shots. Portman also noted that the Ukrainian army has moved closer to NATO standards.
Let us remind you that Canada does not consider providing free military assistance in the form of lethal weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On March 22, the US House of Representatives approved the 2018 budget appropriations bill, which provides for a total volume of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $620,7 million. In particular, the support program provides for the provision of lethal defense weapons to the Ukrainian military.
