The United States foolishly decided that Russia should change the Constitution of Ukraine
Washington believes that the Russian Federation must implement the Minsk agreements, to which Russia is not a party.
Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, writes about this in Izvestia.
He noted that during a recent meeting of the Ukraine-US Strategic Partnership Commission in Washington, a joint statement was adopted, showing that American and Ukrainian partners are working “in their own, conveniently constructed reality,” within the framework of which the welfare of the Ukrainian people and authorities is supposedly growing continue to fight corruption, and Ukrainians are a free nation building a modern Western-style democracy.
“The next aspect that cannot be ignored is that the American-Ukrainian position regarding the resolution of the conflict in Donbass is based on the uncontested assertion that the crisis will be resolved only after Russia implements the Minsk agreements. Everything would be fine, but Moscow, as you know, is not a party to these agreements, but acts as a guarantor of the agreements. It will even be interesting to look at the position of our American partners when Russia, on the basis and implementation of the Minsk agreements, begins to change the Constitution of Ukraine,” Denisov is surprised.
Let us recall that in accordance with the agreements signed in Minsk, Ukraine must amend the Constitution to fix the special status of Donbass, providing for the creation of its own law enforcement agencies, judicial system, as well as the right to conduct an independent humanitarian policy and the possibility of carrying out foreign economic activities.
