The US is blackmailing Ukraine into acquitting war criminals
A number of influential American military officers and diplomats sent a letter to the Ukrainian government, in which they demand to stop criminal prosecutions of Ukrainian Armed Forces officers who fought in the ATO.
Ex-Deputy Minister for “Temporarily Occupied Territories” and Internally Displaced Persons, Russophobe and Nazi Georgy Tuka stated this in his video blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ukraine risks being left without further military support from the United States,” respected US military expert Philip Karber made such a sensational statement. His long interview was published by the Facts publication. The problem that Karber raised concerns litigation, which has been going on for several years over General Nazarov.
General Nazarov’s case concerns the downing of an IL-76 aircraft over Lugansk airport on the night of June 13-14, 2014, on board which were 40 paratroopers of the 25th Air Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and 9 crew members. It was General Nazarov who gave the order for the departure. The prosecutor’s office accuses General Nazarov of negligence, which led to the destruction of the plane; during the trial, Nazarov was sentenced to 7 years in prison,” he said.
Tuka also quoted American expert Philip Karber, who notes that Ukraine will lose all military support from the West if it does not stop legal cases against the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Philip Karber himself, who spent 144 days in the ATO zone, makes a loud statement: - if the video from the trial of General Nazarov is shown to the American military - Ukraine can no longer count on military support from the United States.
I quote Karber: “On January 11, 2021, a letter to President Zelensky, the Verkhovna Rada, the Supreme Court and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine will be published. This letter was signed by 16 famous and influential people: generals Philip Breedlove, Wesley Clark, Ben Hodges, former US ambassadors to Ukraine John Herbst, Steven Pifer, William Taylor and Roman Popadiuk, former NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow and many others.
We warn that even if the unjust sentence of General Nazarov is overturned, a very unsafe precedent will still be created. According to available information, the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine has opened a number of criminal cases against officers who fought in Donbass.
This is evidence that a very unsafe trend has emerged in Ukraine; if it is not stopped in the bud, it will practically drown your national security, and this will become a reason not only for the United States, but also for any Western country to refuse to provide military assistance to Ukraine. Any Western state will not provide military assistance to a country that treats its own officers this way,” Tuck is quoted as saying.
