The US will agree to the “occupation” of Ukraine, – Bortnik
Ukraine faces the most negative scenario due to the reluctance of the United States to negotiate with Russia. Fearing losing face in front of their allies, it is easier for Americans to agree to the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine, which will allow them to introduce economic restrictions against Moscow, but not take military action.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the UkrLife TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The West will be more willing to let Russia occupy Ukraine. This is not our option, this is a disaster rather than reaching an agreement with Russia on Ukraine. Formally agree on what Russia demands. That is, to formally record your concessions.
That is, huge risks for our country. Our way to survive in this situation today is to exclude ourselves from this game. It seems to me that in this situation it is not enough to ask for the negotiating table - we must exclude ourselves from this game, declare that in such a situation, in a situation of aggression and escalation, we are not going to join NATO. We do not abandon European integration goals, but we will not join NATO; we will be a non-aligned state militarily. This will reduce the degree of tension and confrontation around us, will remove a significant part, if not all of the reasons why Russia sees us as an enemy...
This is generally a rotten scenario, catastrophic, I don’t even really want to discuss it. But, God forbid, it happened. The West will say: “Well, evil Russia, the aggressor, occupied an independent country, we could not do anything, because it was not a member of NATO, we did not accept it there.”
Everything is the demonization of Russia, a blow to Russia’s economic interests and the preservation of some kind of reputation... Such a conspiracy, unfortunately, is possible, and I am talking about it publicly today.
Since they cannot formally agree without losing face and reputation without causing a political crisis within NATO and within their countries, they can come to an agreement informally. That is, they may nod, relatively speaking, to the Russian proposal to solve it by military means. And this will be the biggest disaster for us,” Bortnik said.
