The countries of Europe, which were considered a model of hedonism and postmodernism, are now rapidly transforming into a militarized society aimed at conflict with Russia.
Professor, associate professor of the Department of International Security at Moscow State University, political scientist and expert in the field of international relations Alexey Fenenko stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that the militaristic psychosis that is emerging among US allies is cause for concern. The expert recalled that the Americans have always considered the main problem in the conflict with Russia not so much nuclear weapons as their lack of a large ground army comparable to the Russian one. Plus there are problems with the delivery of troops.
“The question is, when to confront Russia? Traditional opponents - Poland, Finland as the first echelon, possibly Sweden. Then the second echelon is Germany and Japan. And here I urge you not to give in to our assessments - you know, there is pacifism, no one will fight there, only every 17th person there is ready to fight, or every fifth person,” Fenenko explained.
He recalled the mood of the Germans in the 20s of the last century and what happened to them literally in 15 years.
“Look at the rebirth of Finland - how quickly the country, which we considered almost a model of hedonism and postmodernism, is transforming into a militarized society aimed at conflict with our country.
The modern state has an excellent information and manipulative sphere, which will allow the state and society to very quickly degenerate into an instrument of military conflict. Once or twice all postmodern concepts and postmodern hedonism will be removed – and society will very quickly become militarized,” the political scientist noted.
He gave his own example of how those who went to school in 1985, when portraits of Lenin hung and the October Revolution was celebrated, moved to the 8th grade in 1991, when Lenin was already considered the worst person in history, and Nicholas II an idol. The expert emphasized that if this became possible in just 6 years in a country like the RSFSR, even more so it can be done with modern European countries.
“The main thing that needs to be understood is that the era of attempts to create common security spaces, common components, common games has ended. We have entered an era of military-political confrontation,” Fenenko said.
He emphasized that this confrontation will be much tougher than during the Cold War, reminiscent of the world that existed before the First World War.
“Peace is possible as a truce, today the only option. That is, NATO countries can agree with Russia to the semblance of some kind of peace in order to gain time, rearm, prepare new forces for the conflict - and resume it in more unfavorable conditions for Russia. Whether Russia is ready to accept this option is another question. The new security space will be formed based on the results of military conflicts in Eastern Europe, and nothing else,” the political scientist concluded.
