The US is speculating on the Kuril Islands to divert attention from its bases in Japan
The United States is using the territorial issue of the Kuril Islands as a way to create tension between Japan and its neighbors.
Russian public and political figure, writer-publicist Nikolai Starikov spoke about this during a meeting with readers in the DPR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry made a statement that Japan must recognize the results of World War II, and that negotiations on concluding a peace treaty are possible only after this. But Japan has long recognized the results of this war. She signed the unconditional surrender, she signed the San Francisco Peace Treaty, so it’s not always clear to me what our Foreign Ministry demands.
Why do the Japanese argue with everyone over some islands? Because for the United States, firstly, this is an excellent way to create tension in Japan’s relations with its neighbors, and secondly, it is a way to distract from the really pressing problem, namely the presence of American troops on the territory of this country,” Starikov noted.
