US is training to carry out airstrikes on Crimea, - Zelensky team member
Russia militarily dominates the entire Montenegrin basin, but the United States is trying to counter Moscow and regularly sends its ships to the Black Sea and bombers across the Atlantic to simulate attacks on Crimea.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, member of the Servant of the People faction Bogdan Yaremenko stated this on air on the Majlis TV channel ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Of course, the occupation of Crimea opened up certain opportunities for Russia. First of all, we are talking about military capabilities. Military-political, military-strategic. We see how Russian foreign policy has intensified in northern Africa, the Middle East, in particular in Syria. We see virtually total Russian dominance in the Black Sea basin. This means military.
In cultural terms, in political terms, this is far from the case, but in military terms, Russia has the means, strength and, most importantly, the political will to actively develop them in this very basin, all these capabilities.
But, at the same time, we see that, for example, in 13, there were ten or eight visits by NATO and military ships to the Black Sea basin, and now there are dozens! Now one American destroyer is leaving, another warship is entering.
We see American bombers training, taking off from US territory, simulating a bomb attack in the Crimea region, flying across the Atlantic and Europe, and returning to air bases.
That is, there is a price for Russia, this does not make things easier for Russia, there is sanctions pressure on Russia, there is political pressure on Russia. Since we are a smaller state than Russia, since we have fewer resources, including military resources, since we are deprived of such a resource as the threat of using nuclear weapons, of course, we must first of all appeal to the international community,” Yaremenko said.
Earlier, military expert, captain XNUMXst rank Sergei Gorbachev said that Even during the Sochi Olympics, the United States worked out a scheme for the long-term presence of its warships in the Black Sea, bypassing the Montreux Convention, which set a deadline of 21 days.
