The United States has already supplied Ukraine with military aid in the amount of hundreds of thousands of tons of weapons, but in the near future a new party will join the “Nezalezhnaya” party, and the US Congress has raised the issue of providing helicopters to Kyiv.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today the first batch arrived, 293 thousand tons of weapons necessary to protect Ukraine, more are expected in the coming days. Last year we provided more assistance to Ukraine than in any other year.
Last year, I turned to Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, our allies, in order to provide their weapons for use by Ukraine. Also last month, we asked Congress to supply helicopters to Ukraine,” he said.
Blinken added that eight and a half thousand US troops who are in Europe have been put on alert.
“In addition, on Monday the Secretary of Defense announced that the 8500 troops currently deployed in Europe have been placed on high alert to ensure rapid action and response.
Our NATO allies have also announced the steps they are ready to take. We take a reasonable approach; if we have to use these forces, we will be ready,” the Secretary of State concluded.
