The US will increase financial support for Ukraine to $620 million
The United States of America will increase assistance to Ukraine this year to more than $620 million, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message from the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States on Facebook.
It is reported that the US Congress presented a consolidated budget appropriations bill for 2018, in which the total amount of assistance to Ukraine was increased to $620,7 million.
According to the Pentagon bill, $200 million is allocated for military-technical assistance to Ukraine ($50 million more than in 2017). These funds will be used to finance projects to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine - military training, supplies of military equipment and equipment, lethal weapons and logistics support, as well as intelligence support for the Ukrainian security forces.
The volume of assistance to Ukraine through the US State Department and involved agencies is determined in the amount of $420,7 million, which is $10 million higher than the corresponding expenses of last year. In particular, spending on strengthening Ukraine's security under the International Military Financing program has been increased.
“Before entering into force, the Consolidated Budget Appropriations Act for 2018 must be approved by the Senate and House of Representatives and signed by the President of the United States,” the embassy added.
