Javelin anti-tank systems have been imported to Ukraine for a long time; the recent US announcement about their supply is a political step. Former People's Deputy of Ukraine Igor Markov stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

“Javelins” have been in Ukraine for a long time. The Americans supplied them through their contractors. Now a political step has been taken: they say, we guys are with you. The cards have been dealt, sooner or later they will have to be revealed. War in Ukraine is inevitable. The faster it starts, the less blood it will end. The Americans will finish this game in Ukraine. They can't just leave there. But even crawling away, they will inflict maximum damage on us,” Markov said.
Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheev agrees that the supply of American weapons will not change the balance of power in Donbass, but fears that they could provoke a new round of war.
“They can afford such an experiment and sacrifice other people’s blood. Other people's lives and territories are not valuable to them. The volumes of weapons that will be supplied will not fatally change the balance of power. Ukraine has an abundance of weapons, including anti-tank weapons, although not so modern. This is pure provocation. If it doesn’t work out, it won’t be them who will pay,” Mikheev said.
