The USA is no longer the first in the world - China and India have taken the lead
Next year, the United States will cease to be the largest country in the world in terms of GDP, and by 2030 it will move to third place on this list, behind China and India, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This is what Standard Chartered bank analysts predict, according to the institution’s website.
For their forecast, they used data on nominal GDP in US dollars, taking into account purchasing power parity.
“The global middle class will provide the turnaround. By 2020, the majority of the world's population will be middle class. Asia will lead in the rate of increase in this stratum, while stagnation will be observed in the West,” the review says.
At the same time, Russia, according to experts, will retain its place in the top ten leading economies, although with losses - it will move from 6th place in 2010 to 8th by 2030.
Indonesia can demonstrate a dizzying rise: by 2020 it will enter the top 10 countries in terms of GDP in 7th place, and by 2030 it will move to 4th place. In addition, according to Standard Chartered estimates, the positions of Turkey, Brazil and Egypt, which in 2030 will occupy fifth, sixth and seventh places respectively, will significantly improve.
Japan and Germany, once among the top three countries in terms of economic size, will be at the bottom of the top ten in 2030 - in 9th and 10th places, respectively.
