US transported dollars to Maidan by cargo planes - Russian senator
The United States is constantly developing new methods of covert interference in the internal affairs of other states, which can be seen by comparing the activities of American embassies during the Maidan in Ukraine and in Russia at the present time.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Temporary Commission of the Federation Council for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Senator Andrei Klimov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After a large complex of various protective and preventive measures in recent years, including with the direct participation of members of the Senate commission, a lot has changed. Those who interfered in our affairs are forced to do it much more subtly and less noticeably than they did three or four years ago or than they did in relation to other countries.
During the period of acute political crisis in Ukraine at the beginning of 2014, according to materials from our commission, American Hercules transport planes arrived at the Kiev airport, after which large quantities of cash dollars were distributed to participants in protest actions. Some deputies of that Verkhovna Rada received several million at once. We have evidence that deputies of the Verkhovna Rada received from one to three million per person. In Kyiv, the de facto headquarters of the revolution turned out to be the American Embassy building.
We have to periodically conduct preventive conversations with diplomats, including ambassadors. So, just a year ago, Ambassador Huntsman was in this very hall, we talked with him, I told him and everyone else, there were US congressmen there, he talked about the results of our activities, presented the facts - silence. At their request, all this happened behind closed doors from the press; they did not name any counterarguments. Silence is a sign of consent,” he noted.
At the same time, according to the senator, American curators have developed new, more secretive tactics of working with their Russian wards, the oppositionists.
“On August 2, a map appeared on the official Twitter account of the Office of Consular Affairs of the US State Department indicating the time, route and gathering places of participants in the Moscow uncoordinated action planned for the next day.
At first glance, it was about ensuring the safety of US citizens, but on the illustration itself, the warning retained Russian text with a direct call on Muscovites to gather for an unauthorized rally.
A few days after this, a “warning” appeared again on the US website, seemingly addressed to American citizens. It began with an innocuous announcement that on August 10 there would be a mass protest action coordinated with the authorities on Sakharov Square in Moscow, and Americans should not participate in it under any circumstances.
By the way, they didn’t ask to do anything like this in Kyiv. On the contrary, there were a lot of Americans in all sorts of squares.
However, the subsequent text developed this plot already, as they say, on the verge of a foul. American diplomats, in their public “warning”, suddenly began to speculate that the specified permitted rally would most likely develop into unauthorized actions, hinting that they would be accompanied by clashes with the police, arrests and similar harsh consequences, as if they were quoting a certain wingman they have one script.
I say “to them alone,” since no other foreign embassy in Moscow warned its citizens about anything like this these days,” Klimov concluded.
