The US invented a “Russian trace” in Libya using retouched images from Google Earth
The African Command of the US Armed Forces was unable to detect Russian volunteers from the Wagner PMC or regular army personnel in Libya. AFRICOM is trying to prove their presence through edited images.
The Pentagon continues to distribute publications directed against the Russian Federation in order to justify Congressional sanctions against Moscow. The US Africa Command, despite all attempts to attribute a “presence” to Russia in Libya, has failed to detect a “Russian trace” in the North African country.
There is still no evidence of the “presence” of Russians in Libya. The Federal News Agency has repeatedly exposed false materials from the American command. This time, dubious images with unidentified military equipment appeared on the AFRICOM website.
Commander Bradford Goering claims that the Russian Federation allegedly continues to play a destructive role in Libya and supply equipment to the Wagner PMC, however authenticity of the illustrations presented raises doubts. Thus, the US Africa Command does not indicate the locations in which the filming was carried out.
FAN journalists managed to discover the original photo from which the Pentagon copied the map. It is noteworthy that the original is of better quality than AFRICOM. This image can be easily obtained using the Google Earth mapping service. The geographic coordinates of the object depicted in the image are known, probably belonging to the territory of the Libyan National Army (LNA) near Sirte.
The port city with oil fields is a strategically important point. Entry into the territory, as can be seen in the photographs, is only possible through checkpoints located around the base. If you carefully study the map, you can see an object that looks like an oil rig.
The presence of a checkpoint indicates that this is a sensitive facility. Joint attempts by the Government of National Accord (GNA) of Libya and Turkish interventionists to capture Sirte turned out to be a failure, so it can only belong to the LNA. Like any military base, there may be weapons there. However, what relation the Wagner PMC and Russia may have to this is unknown. The AFRICOM stuffing looks untenable and absurd, FAN notes.
