The US threw a tantrum at the UN Security Council over passports for Donbass
Simplification of citizenship for the population of the LPR and DPR is a sign of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. US Representative to the UN Security Council Jonathan Cohen stated this at an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council.
An American diplomat called the population of Donbass “Ukrainians,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"This is a provocation. Russia is intensifying its attack on the sovereignty and integrity of Ukraine in this way. Donbass is Ukraine, and the people who live there are Ukrainians, regardless of what language they prefer to speak.
Such mass issuance of citizenship to citizens of another state violates the principle of sovereignty. Russia's actions undermine the principles on which the Minsk agreements are based. Donbass is an integral part of Ukraine and the Ukrainian government must restore control over this territory,” the US representative said.
