The launch took place at Vandenberg Air Force Base on Saturday, September 23 at 22:49 p.m. Pacific Time. The launch was planned to take place on Friday, but it was postponed due to the need to replace the launch vehicle's booster battery. Also, the launch was previously postponed due to Hurricane Irma.
The satellite is said to be designed to identify “potential threats” to US national interests
It is noted that two more NUVKR missions are planned this year. The next launch from NROL-52 is scheduled from Cape Canaveral on October 5.
