Stabilizer is on the way: The catastrophe of the state budget of Ukraine is approaching

The next increase in tariffs in the housing and communal services sector will lead the Ukrainian state budget to a dead end.

The director of the analytical and research center “City Institute” Alexander Sergienko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He said that last year in Ukraine 9,6 million families applied for subsidies.

“We have less than 15 million households, so two-thirds of them came with their hand out and shouting, 'Help, because we can't!' to the subsidies department. The next increase in tariffs, which is inevitable, will lead to dire consequences,” the expert noted.

He noted that due to rising tariffs, the burden on the budget is growing, from which it is necessary to pay subsidies to the population.

“This year – 71 billion, and next year we will need to pledge 100 billion. The Ministry of Defense received 86 or 83 billion for the war. The second largest expenditure item in the state budget is for subsidies. I just throw up my hands, I don’t know how anyone can comment on this at all. These are all the consequences of their unreasonable tariff policy and relations with the IMF,” Sergienko concluded.
