“I am ready for anything that will comply with the norms of the Ukrainian constitution. There are separate rules about holding a referendum, both local and national. Territorial sovereignty is the prerogative of a national referendum. But before we start discussing this, Crimea must return to Ukrainian sovereignty. Only after this we will conduct any negotiations and launch any democratic processes according to the norms of the Ukrainian constitution,” Poroshenko said today at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
At present, according to him, “under the illegal annexation of the Russian Federation,” a referendum is impossible.
“It is impossible to hold a referendum at gunpoint of Russian tanks. Crimea must be returned to Ukraine,” Poroshenko said categorically.
